Rev. Michael Payne and his wife Karen arrived in Virginia in November, 2015 to begin serving as the new pastor of Lebanon Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Greenwood, Va. They came from Taipei, Taiwan where Michael had served as Senior Pastor of Taipei International Church for four years. Previously, he served as Senior Pastor of Union Evangelical Church in Mexico City, Mexico for four and one-half years. Prior to that Michael was Interim Pastor at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Montgomery, AL., after having served for nine years on the faculty of Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi, where Michael was Professor of Theology and Apologetics. In addition to serving on the faculty of RTS/Jackson, from 2002-2004 he served as Professor of Ethics and Leadership at the Air War College, at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, AL.
Prior to his appointment to teach at RTS in 1997, Michael and Karen served as missionaries in Kenya, East Africa with MIssion to the World (MTW), Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) for over ten years.
Michael received his Ph.D. in Theology from Westminster Theological Seminary, in Philadelphia, PA.

Michael and Karen have two beautiful daughters and three wonderful grandchildren.
